About

Lucy Barnes is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of colour, texture, and the overlooked details of everyday life. She studied Book Arts and Design at the London College of Communication, where she developed a deep appreciation for the tactile and narrative possibilities of visual media. Though her professional path initially led her into marketing and communications, Lucy’s creative impulse endured, fuelled by a lifelong desire to contribute beauty to the world—a quiet rebellion against her self-confessed instinct to please.

Her practice is rooted in an attentiveness to the world around her: the soft patina of weathered brickwork, the accidental harmony of peeling paint, the precise hue of lichen on stone. Barnes’s work reflects an almost meditative engagement with these subtle moments, translating them into vivid compositions that invite viewers to slow down and notice. Whether working in acrylic, watercolour, or wearable forms such as textiles and jewellery, she maintains a consistent focus on the sensory experience of colour play and texture, inviting tactile as well as visual engagement.

In bridging fine art and functional design, Lucy blurs the line between object and adornment, artefact and atmosphere. Her pieces evoke not just what is seen, but what is felt—drawing on the quiet poetry of the world’s margins to craft work that is both intimate and expansive. Through this practice, she continues to shape a visual language that is at once personal and profoundly connective.
